Róbert Mak: fans are fantastic

Róbert Mak in July flights from Nuremberg to PAOK Thessalonika. On Thursday, he will premiere at the Greek team jersey.

What were the first days in PAOK like?

– I came to the team  in mid-July to the Netherlands, where I focused on PAOK. I had a super feeling, action in the Greek team is a big challenge for me. Team has taken me great. Most of them are young guys in the squad, I quickly adapted.

Do You communicate with them in English?

– Yes. everyone speaks this language.

How came out preparatory matches?

– I had a good start, the very first preparatory meeting against Waalwijk I have scored. I got on a regular basis, I missed only two matches.  Against Xanthi because of injury and during a match against Inter Milan, I was in hospital next to my wife and newborn son.

Do you have any new PAOK friends?

– In Israel, Eyal Golas. He arrived in the summer from Maccabi Haifa. During the camps we were together in the room and close to each other as well as our houses in Thessaloniki.

For many years you worked in Germany, now Greece. Can it be compared to the country’s football website?

– Yes. Germans are somewhere else. Play a more rapid pace, it is all about football at the highest level. Regarding PAOK, I can not complain about anything. It is a leading Greek team, everything is at a high level. And fans? So it is a different story. They are crazy in a good way. For them there is only football. Against Xanthi there were ten thousand, and the atmosphere was fantastic. These matches will be full and I can not even imagine the atmosphere …

Thursday you enter the season duel of the European League against Zimbru Chisinau. Objectives probably wont be different than the process in the group stage.

– Exactly. We have a good team and we want to play during the autumn European competition. And in the Greek league we will fight for the title with Olympiakos.

Your personal goal?

-I hope my health will serve me well and will play regularly. And hopefully I can score a few goals .. 🙂

What is the custom in PAOK? Did you have to pay,, snaps “or had to give them something to sing?

– For now nothing has been. Hopefully I will not have to sing … Since my son was born, so I want to invite teammates to dinner.

You mentioned your son. How is he?

– Fortunately, he and wife are doing well. Every day I communicate with them via skype.

When they come for you to Thessaloniki?

– After a representative break in September. In Thessaloniki, I already have a house, located in a beautiful setting. I have a twenty minutes drive to the training center and ten to the stadium.
