Peter Štepanovský: The champion of Armenia!

It worked! FC Banats won the Armenian title thanks to Slovaks as well. Zsolt Hornyák is a coach of team from Yerevan and Peter Štepanovský is a player. Banats won on the field of Pjunik Yerevan 1:0 during the weekend and before the last round has a six-point lead against the second Sirak.

Who would say at the end of February, at the start of the year when you came to the team…

– Truly so. If I remember correctly, then we had a twelve-point loss for the first.

When have you started to feel that you could eventually end up in the first place?

– Immediately after the first round of spring when we defeated Ararat 2:1. And even we were losing the first half 0-1. I believed that at the end we win the title.

At the end of transfer window you have picked the right team.

-In FC Banants I arrived at the twelfth hour. And it is a success. I am very pleased that we have gained Armenian title.

How were the celebrations ?

– Good (smile). The whole team, we went to town. But it was only the first part.

When will be the second?

-Weekend. After the last match of the season against Mika we get championship cup and we will continue the celebration.

In twelve duels for Banants you scored three times. Satisfied?

-I can not say that I was a hundred percent satisfied because I could score more often. But I am also grateful for the three goals. Maybe that number will be even higher after the weekend as we are still waiting for the next match.

Do you plan to remain in Armenia for the next season?

-Since July I am a free player. We’ll see where I anchor.
