Peter Štepanovský: fights for Armenian title

Slovak footballer Peter Štepanovský ( 26 ) , who is the most famous because of his spectacular goal against AS Roma in jersey of Slovan Bratislava, has completed the first weeks in the Armenian team FC Banants . Club of Yerevan trained by Zsolt Hornyák is one of the best in the country.

Is Banants satisfied with the results ?

– Since the beginning of spring part of Armenian league we won every duel but one. Although we lost also in the opening of domestic Cup semifinal meeting we’ll have a chance for retaliation. We want to get to the final.

How are you doing ?

– I am satisfied with the performance . But it still can be improved. I always try to play the best .

You’re on the second place in the Armenian league. Is there a chance for you to win a title?

– I think we have a good team . And we will do our best to to celebrate a title after the season.

You have already scored two goals for Banats . Are you becoming a shooter ?

– Well , I had some more chances I could turn …. ( smile ) . I’m glad I put those goals and I will try to score in other duels too.

What is the level of the Armenian league?

– Comparable to Slovak top league. In Armenian league play a lot of clever footballers .

If Banants played in the Slovak league in which part of the table would they move?

– Certainly in the first half .

In what condition are stadiums in Armenia?

– So far I’ve played in two stadiums. Both of them small and old.

And how does it look in your club? What conditions are in FC Banants ?

– Training Centre is at a high level. You can find a gym, swimming pool and good recovery. Such a center has a few people in Slovakia… In our club stand is the stadium where we host our opponents .

How long does take the journey to the opponent who is the most far?

– Longest journey is about five hours but usually it’s only an hour. Moreover, we also have visitors from Yerevan.

Is football the most popular sport in the country?

– I do not know exactly but probably not. To watch football goes around 1,500 people. Same like in Slovakia. Sometimes it’s more. And a media interest? Only a few journalists attend the matches .

On what purpose you came to Armenia?

– Regularly playing to show up in a good light. And in the summer to move higher .

Generally, what is the life like in Armenia?

– Here in Yerevan it is good. But when you go out of town it ‘s not so rosy .

What are the locals ?

– Without any problems! Would do everything for you.

If you go out where you go most often with your girlfriend?

– To the the city center. Yerevan is beautiful.
